THE PLAY

‘A richly humorous, affectionate and touching portrait of life in the West Yorkshire coalfields. Spanning 3 generations from 1947, this compelling saga captures the dreams, ambitions, joys, fears and disappointments of the Parker sisters, Annie and May, whose hopes centre on May`s son Paul whose academic success, a source of so much family pride, triggers an ever increasing rift.’

This play can be performed by 6 actors, 3 men and 3 women, some of whom play several parts. there are no scene changes and no set, time passing is marked by speeches from the cast. Actors need to age during the play.
This will be challenging but extremely satisfying endeavour as the actors will create and sustain the setting and ongoing life of these characters.

MAIN CHARACTERS

May, Annie and Harry age from 18 to late fifties.
Paul, Tosh and Kay from 10 to 32 years.
